Expand the solar you already have.
We add panels or a battery to any system, designed to keep your NEM rate.
Kilo adds panels and batteries to existing California solar systems, including ones another company installed or a closed installer left behind. We design around your equipment, usage, and utility agreement so a legacy NEM rate can stay yours, subject to your utility’s approval.
How NEM grandfathering worksWhat we review
- Panels, inverter, and electrical panel
- Usage now and planned changes
- Ownership and warranty terms
- NEM eligibility and utility rules
How the review works.
Confirm the starting point
Your bill, equipment, and production history show what the addition must cover.
Design the addition
We size the addition to the gap. A site survey confirms the fit.
Coordinate approval and install
The licensed partner builds it and files the paperwork. We keep it moving.
Before you decide.
Will new panels affect my NEM agreement?
Only if it’s filed as a plain size increase. We design within your utility’s rules so your original agreement keeps its status, subject to the utility’s approval.
What if I lease my current system?
We review the lease and any approval the system owner requires before recommending changes.
Can you include an EV charger or a main panel upgrade?
Yes. A Level 2 EV charger and a main panel upgrade can be part of the project, installed by licensed partners, and we size the solar for the charging you plan.
Do the new panels have to match the old ones?
No. The design matches the electrical characteristics so the system works as one, and the layout keeps the roof tidy.
